Lucinda

Lovely Lucinda Williams filled my ears with 2 and a half hours of rockin blue grass music last night at the Ventura Theater. She was remarkable..her sultry voice and insightful lyrics backed by the tremendous sound of buick 6 (her session band) are still resounding in my ears. The show was small, but i loved the more intimate atmosphere...not to mention our general admission tickets got us pretty decent seats. It was a Good time.

From a recent article in the Ventura County Star, written about Lucinda Williams:

Her father, Miller Williams, a poet and her daughter's literary mentor, once said that there is a pitch-black well, and all of us stand at its edge. Some fall in, and some don't.

"I loved that image," Lucinda said. "It made so much sense to me, and I've seen it happen time and time again.

That's what my writing deals with a lot...

..what makes someone stand at the edge and jump in and what makes some of us not."
