Symphony in the Park

Stern Grove is a beautiful park in the Sunset district of SF. Its one of those many areas where you can become so engulfed by nature that you forget your in a lively urban city. During summer they host free concerts in the outdoor ampitheater and I finally got a chance to make it to one last Sunday. Playing was the San Francisco Symphony. They did a lovely tribute to Roger and Hammerstein as well as some classical pieces. It was a fun experience and I hope to go again soon.

Sunny Sunday

It's lovely and sunny in San Francisco. Welcome Spring.

Spent today listening to music and making my families fav : Arroz con Pollo (recipe via Smitten Kitchen)

It's been a happy happy day.
Have a listen:

Concrete Blonde On Blonde from Grand Lake on Vimeo. Local band from Oakland and new discovery today. Found out there playing a show next week for 5 dolla (my kind of price) Husband and I plan to be there.

Sigur Ros - Viư spilum endalaust - A Take Away Show from La Blogotheque on Vimeo.
Dear Sigur Ros if you came to SF and played a quiet little show at some cafe where I happened to be invited to enjoy your genius I swear I would come.

#22.1 St.Vincent - Marry Me from Handheld Shows on Vimeo.
I am sooooooo in love with Annie Clark aka St. Vincent. Shes a former member of Sufjan Stevens and Polyphonic Spree but thank goodness she finally released her own solo album plus there is another one on the way. Can't wait.

Its blitz!! The Yeah Yeah Yeahs a great band with a great new video. And even better its set in SF..just fun to watch and try to recognize where they are filming.

Lucinda

Lovely Lucinda Williams filled my ears with 2 and a half hours of rockin blue grass music last night at the Ventura Theater. She was remarkable..her sultry voice and insightful lyrics backed by the tremendous sound of buick 6 (her session band) are still resounding in my ears. The show was small, but i loved the more intimate atmosphere...not to mention our general admission tickets got us pretty decent seats. It was a Good time.

From a recent article in the Ventura County Star, written about Lucinda Williams:

Her father, Miller Williams, a poet and her daughter's literary mentor, once said that there is a pitch-black well, and all of us stand at its edge. Some fall in, and some don't.

"I loved that image," Lucinda said. "It made so much sense to me, and I've seen it happen time and time again.

That's what my writing deals with a lot...

..what makes someone stand at the edge and jump in and what makes some of us not."
